Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT DO I GET WITH A PASS?
A pass covers the full-day conference experience: all keynotes, panels, and breakout sessions led by data science leaders from top pharma and diagnostics companies; meals and coffee throughout the day; and an evening reception with curated food, drinks, and conversation. Pharma/biotech pass holders also get an invite to our online community and our invite-only East Coast networking event for the next year. We've designed the event so you can focus on connection and learning.
WILL THE RIGHT PEOPLE BE THERE?
How do I know the right people will actually show up? Look at the speaker list; it's the single best signal for the caliber of people in the room. We also publish attendee intel on our website so you can see the mix before you commit.
I'm worried it will be full of vendors. We guarantee that 50% or more of attendees are from pharma, biotech, and diagnostics companies, not vendors. Furthermore, the sponsors we work with are repeat partners who are genuinely invested in the data science in pharma+biotech community, not just looking for leads.
Will people be too junior to be useful to me? Over 30% of attendees are Associate Director level or above. This is not a room full of early-career attendees looking for their first job.
Will senior people actually talk to me? Yes. This is one of the things that makes DDP different. Everyone in this room chose to be here, which means they're in a completely different mindset than they are at work. People are far more open and receptive than you'd expect.
I feel like I already know everyone in this space. You might recognize some faces, but context matters enormously. Meeting someone in a curated peer setting is fundamentally different from a quick hello at a mega-conference, happy hour, or at work. Relationships deepen when you share a room and a real conversation.
IS THE EFFORT WORTH IT?
I already have a network. Why do I need another one? Quality beats quantity every time. One genuinely valuable new contact can open a door that your existing network can't. We are confident that you’ll find one or two people who change things for you here.
I already have a job I like. What’s in it for me? The best time to build your network is before you need it. Roles change, companies restructure, and opportunities don't announce themselves in advance. Having options, both internally and externally, is one of the most underrated career assets you can have. In fact, multiple people at large companies tell us that DataDrivenPharma is a great space for catching up with their colleagues and meeting them in person.
MAKING AND MAINTAINING CONNECTIONS
The people I want to meet always seem too busy at conferences. The people who come to DataDrivenPharma are here specifically to grow professionally. They're not being pulled into sponsor obligations or back-to-back meetings. They showed up for the same reason you did.
I'm not great at approaching people I don't know. We design the environment to make this easier. We open the day (and the evening reception) by explicitly setting the tone for openness and receptivity. We set up the spaces to make it easier to connect. We also provide a networking guide in your welcome packet and a set of ice-breakers that attendees know to expect, so the first move is easier than ever.
I never know how to exit a conversation gracefully. Our networking guide covers exactly this. Getting into a good conversation is one skill and knowing how to close it well and move on is another. Our guide walks you through both.
I make connections at events but they never go anywhere afterward. We've built the community layer specifically to solve this. Every conference attendee gets access to our online community, and we host smaller year-round events for the DataDrivenPharma community. The conference is the beginning of the relationship, not the end of it.
Networking always feels transactional to me. That's because many events are transactional. DataDrivenPharma is a community, which means people are invested in each other's success, not just their own. That changes the energy in a way that's hard to describe until you've experienced it.
One day isn't enough to build a real relationship. You're right that relationships take time, but they also have to start somewhere. The day is split 50/50 between content and networking, which gives you more genuine face time than most multi-day conferences. And with community access and year-round events, the day is a starting point, not a one-shot opportunity.
FOR INTROVERTS
I'm an introvert and conferences drain me. We've thought about this. The venue has multiple spaces to step away and recharge. The agenda builds in natural breaks. And the roundtable format is specifically designed for people who don't love open networking: you're in a small group, with a structured topic, and you don't have to do all the work yourself.
IS IT WORTH MY TIME?
I already attend other events. Why add this one? Worth asking: what are you actually getting from those events? If the answer is mostly content, that's available in other formats. If you're looking for a space where you can have a real peer conversation with someone who understands your specific context, that's harder to find. That's what we are doing.
My company already runs networking events. Why do I need this? Company events keep your network inside your company's orbit. DDP gives you an external perspective: how other teams are structured, what problems they're solving, and connections that can help you grow in ways your internal network can't. Furthermore, being at an external event puts you in a different frame of mind vs in-house events. Both are great, and both are worth your time.
There are free community events that take less time. Why pay for this? Free events attract people with free-event energy. When someone buys a ticket, they're signaling that they're serious about getting value. This changes the entire dynamic. It's the difference between playing poker for fun and playing with money on the table - it’s a completely different experience.
TRUSTING THE BRAND
This sounds like every other conference that promises "curated" and "high signal." Fair skepticism. We'd rather show you than tell you. Look at the speaker list, read testimonials from real attendees with their names and faces attached, and check our founder’s LinkedIn profile for readouts of past events. Social proof is the best kind of proof.
I don't know DataDrivenPharma well enough to trust this. Follow our founder on LinkedIn and look at the content history. The brand voice, the community, and the people who publicly put their name behind it are the best signal we can offer. We're not asking you to take our word for it, we're asking you to look at the evidence.
THE GUARANTEE
What exactly is the guarantee? Simple. If you don't leave with a connection or learn something worth more than the price of your ticket, tell us within one week and complete a 5-minute feedback form within 2 weeks before the event. We'll refund you within 2 business days of form submission. No runaround. Guarantee available for Pharma/Biotech passes only. Attendee must be in a data science or related role.
