Personal Branding in Biotech and Pharma - panel readout from #ddpeast26

There is not enough business-themed conversation happening in the data science + pharma community.

And the "Inside the Business" track at #ddpwest is designed to address this gap. These are conversations around topics where data science touches the business of drug R&D, through a data science lens.

Last time, at the #ddpeast26 conference (Boston Area, June 10, 2026), we put four people on stage who I've been following for some time myself: Dean Lee, Joanna Sadowska, Ming "Tommy" Tang, and Joanna Ghayad. The topic was personal branding for scientists.

The practical takeaway hammered on in the panel was: build a brand tied to you as an individual, not to your employer. A brand anchored to your badge lasts only as long as your term in that role. A brand anchored to you travels with you across jobs, and even across careers. In a field without a clean career ladder, and with AI reshaping what these roles even look like, this is a valuable moat. Check out the full recap here.

This time, at #ddpwest26, we're planning to hear from pharma and biotech data people who have their hand on the pulse of the business. Topics will range from modeling of R&D investment to data partnerships and more. Check it out here: https://www.datadrivenpharma.com/ddp-west
